Search
Tap the magnifying glass in the tab bar and search opens over whatever you’re doing, keyboard ready. Results appear as you type.
What search matches
Section titled “What search matches”Search covers four kinds of things, and it looks deeper than titles:
- Tracks: title, artist, album, and album artist
- Albums: title and album artist
- Artists: name, including sort names like “Beatles, The”
- Playlists: name and description
Matching is forgiving. Capitalization doesn’t matter, accents don’t matter, and the match can sit anywhere in the text. Typing “night” finds “Nightswimming” and “A Night at the Opera” alike.
One honest note: genres aren’t searched. To explore by genre, browse Genres instead.
Reading the results
Section titled “Reading the results”Results arrive as one ranked list, with filter tabs across the top: All, Artists, Albums, Tracks, and Playlists, each showing its count. Ranking favors title matches, exact and starts-with matches first, and gives a nudge to your favorites and to music you’ve played recently. The more you use BitDek, the more search feels like it knows your collection.
Acting on results
Section titled “Acting on results”Tapping a result takes you there: a track opens its album, an artist opens their page, a playlist opens ready to play.
For everything else, each result’s ⋯ menu carries the full toolkit: Play, Shuffle (for albums, artists, and playlists), Favorite, info sheets, Go to Artist and Go to Album, plus Add to Queue and Add Next and Add to Playlist…. You can build a listening session without ever leaving search.
Recent searches
Section titled “Recent searches”Your last ten searches wait under the empty search field. Tap one to run it again, swipe to delete it, or clear the whole list with Clear All.
