Favorites

One heart, four kinds of things. Tracks, albums, artists, and playlists can all be favorites in BitDek. There’s no separate favorites screen to maintain. Favorites run as a thread through the library instead: they power filters, smart rules, and CarPlay shortcuts.

Favoriting things

• The current track: tap the heart on the Now Playing screen.
• Any track: tap its … button anywhere (library, albums, queue, search) and choose Favorite.
• Albums, artists, and playlists: each detail screen has a heart button in its header.

Tap again to unfavorite. That’s the whole system.

Filtering by favorites

Every library view (Tracks, Albums, Artists, and Playlists) has a Favorites toggle in its filter sheet. Turn it on and the view shows only what you’ve hearted, with a removable “Favorites” capsule marking the active filter.

Each view remembers its own setting. Keep Albums filtered to favorites for daily listening while Tracks stays wide open.

Favorites in Smart Rules

Favorites earn their keep in smart rules. Three rule fields are built on them:

• Favorite Track matches tracks you’ve hearted directly.
• Favorite Album matches every track on a favorited album.
• Favorite Artist matches every track by a favorited artist.

So hearting one album quietly updates any playlist with a Favorite Album rule. A playlist with all three rules joined by OR becomes a self-maintaining collection of everything you love. Heart things as you listen, and the playlist keeps up.

Favorites in CarPlay

The Albums and Artists tabs in CarPlay have a Favorites shortcut right at the top. Hearts you toggle on the phone show up in the car immediately, so your favorites are always one tap away while driving.

Where favorites live

Favorites are stored in BitDek’s library database on your device. They are not written into your files’ tags, so they won’t follow the files into other apps, and re-importing a track starts it unhearted. Think of favorites as how you use your collection in BitDek, and your files’ tags as what your collection is.
