BitDek on CarPlay

BitDek is a full CarPlay app. Your whole library on the car’s display, playing the files stored on your phone. No internet needed in the car, because nothing streams.

Setup (there isn’t any)

Install BitDek and it appears on the CarPlay screen automatically. Nothing to configure in the app.

Don’t see it? Add it from your iPhone:

1. Open Settings → General → CarPlay.
2. Choose your car.
3. Tap + next to BitDek to add it to the dashboard. Use Customize to reorder icons.

You can even start BitDek from the car’s screen without opening it on your phone first.

Browsing your library

Four tabs:

• Home. A Resume row appears when you have a paused queue. Below it, Recently Played and Recently Added albums for one-tap listening.
• Albums. Your albums A to Z, with Shuffle and Favorites shortcuts at the top. Tap an album for its tracks, with Play and Shuffle buttons.
• Artists. Alphabetical, with the same shortcuts. Tap through from artist to albums to tracks.
• Playlists. Most recently updated first.

Multi-disc albums keep their disc groupings on the car display, and classical works keep their work and movement structure. Your library’s organization travels with you.

Now Playing

Artwork, track info, and the standard transport controls, plus:

• Shuffle and Repeat toggles.
• Up Next shows your queue. Tap any upcoming track to jump to it.
• An album button takes you to more from the current artist.

One player, two screens

CarPlay and your phone share one player. Start an album in the kitchen, get in the car, and tap Resume on the Home tab to pick up where you left off.

Disconnecting doesn’t stop the music. It keeps playing on your phone. And favorites you toggle on your phone show up in the car immediately.

Good to know

• Search isn’t available in CarPlay. Browse by tab, or start playback from your phone.
• Playlists don’t show artwork on the car display.
• The Shuffle shortcuts queue up to 400 tracks at a time.
