Replacing artwork
Wrong cover? Low-res scan? No art at all? Any album or artist’s artwork can be replaced in a few taps.
Opening the sheet
Section titled “Opening the sheet”Two ways in, on any album or artist screen:
- Long-press the artwork at the top of the screen.
- Tap the ⋯ menu and choose Replace Artwork….
The sheet shows a large preview and a set of artwork sources. Pick one, then tap Save.

The sources
Section titled “The sources”Current. What’s there now, selected by default. Nothing changes until you pick something else and save.
TheAudioDB. BitDek searches TheAudioDB automatically when the sheet opens and shows what it finds. One tap to use it. This needs an internet connection, and the tile appears only when the TheAudioDB integration is on in Settings (see Importing missing artwork). If nothing turns up, the tile says so and you move on to the other sources.
Photos. Pick any image from your photo library. A screenshot, a scan of the LP sleeve, a photo you took of the CD booklet.
Files. Pick an image from the Files app, including iCloud Drive. Handy when you’ve downloaded proper cover art on your computer.
None. Removes the artwork entirely. The album or artist shows BitDek’s placeholder instead.
For artists: Use an album cover
Section titled “For artists: Use an album cover”Artist sheets add one more section: that artist’s own album covers, ready to use as the artist image. Sometimes the best portrait of a band is the cover you already know.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Very large images are scaled down to a sensible size (anything over 2048 pixels). There’s no cropping step, so square images work best.
- Replacements live in BitDek’s library. The artwork embedded inside your audio files is never modified, so your files stay exactly as you imported them. For how BitDek finds artwork in the first place (embedded art and folder images), see Album Artwork.
